Did you know that Mechanical Bacterial Lysates are helpful in the prevention of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease’s (COPD) infectious exacerbations?
We are pleased to announce the clinical scientific publication of Pr Avdeev (Sechenov University, Moscow, Russia).
This paper is entitled “Clinical efficacy of mechanical bacterial lysate in the prevention of infectious exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease”.
The aim of this clinical study was to evaluate the efficacy of PMBL tablets in the prevention of infectious exacerbations of COPD.
Patients received conventional therapy for COPD and PMBL tablets (3 months therapy), or conventional therapy for COPD without PMBL tablets, depending of their groups. The severity of symptoms, frequency of recurrence of COPD exacerbations, hospital readmissions, need for emergency care and changes in basic therapy of COPD were evaluated. A significant decrease of biomarkers of systemic inflammation and sputum purulence was observed. After 6 months, the PMBL tablets group demonstrated statistically significant improvement of respiratory function, a decrease in frequency of COPD exacerbations and needs for emergency medical service, reduced changes in basic therapy and hospitalization for exacerbation of COPD.
No adverse events were reported during the study.
The results of the study indicate that PMBL tablets may be used for the prevention of severe infectious exacerbations of COPD.
